High Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure – Drugs vs Supplements

bloodpressure

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently said that Americans with high blood pressure and high cholesterol aren’t doing enough to treat their conditions.

The researchers mentioned that both issues can be treated at a low cost for the patient. However, outside of cost, I’m wondering if they considered the side effects of the medication that patients take for treatment?

I mean, it seems like every ad for medicine on TV has this long, scary laundry list of side effects. In some cases you have to consider the side effects the drugs give you with the issue you’re trying to treat in the first place.

Do you know what I mean?

It’s one of the reasons I like researching about how supplements like vitamins and calcium can help us. There doesn’t seem to be a laundry list of side effects for vitamins and minerals.

For example, we all know about Vitamin C and how it can help you when you have a cold. But did you know that high levels of Vitamin C are linked with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease?

And when it comes to high blood pressure, Vitamin D supplements and calcium supplements have been shown to lower blood pressure. Magnesium supplements help lower blood pressure too, and researchers have found that is even has a greater impact on people with higher blood pressure.

That sounds good to me. Here’s more information on Supplements that lower blood pressure naturally.
