Is It Time To Consider A Probiotic Supplement For Weight Loss?

firmicutes

We’ve known for sometime that the health benefits of probiotic supplementation go far beyond digestive and immune system support. But how many of us have ever considered a probiotic supplement as part of our weight loss/weight management regimen? Perhaps more people should. A slew of studies in recent years have revealed a correlation between extra weight/total body fat and our intestinal microbiota balance. Read more

ALERT: Do Not Be Deceived By This Raspberry Ketones Company…

It’s pretty rare that we call out a specific company or website here. But a new raspberry ketones website has come to our attention that is soo egregious (yet so deceptively appealing) that we have to say something.

What we’re about to say may seem a bit pointed. But we take it very seriously – very personally in fact – when people so blatantly try to be deceptive when trying to sell nutritional supplements to people we consider our friends.

Part of our mission here is to protect people from fraud. Thousands of people lost millions of dollars on “free trial” acai berry scams. And now that raspberry ketones are so incredibly popular, we want to do all we can to keep that from happening again. So if we seem a bit too abrasive here, we do apologize. But this kind of thing makes us very angry.

What Has Us So Upset?

The site is “certified raspberry ketones”. And straight off the bat there are 3 blatant lies.

#1: “Since 2003.” This is an attempt to make you think this is an established company. Yet according to the WhoIs Internet Database (http://www.whois.com/whois/certifiedraspberryketones.com) the site was only registered in March of 2012.

#2: “The only place to buy real & certified raspberry ketones.” We know of at least one other place for REAL raspberry ketones. We have no idea who they claim has “certified” this product.

#3: “100% Pure Product.” When you look at their label (which you’ll see below) you’ll see this product is nothing more than the typical, watered down blend these fly-by-night sites nearly always offer.

The Rag-Tag Research Geeks Investigate

When the Rag-Tag Research Geeks started digging into this site, we found it’s owned by Custom Health Labs. They show up prominently in search engine results and are generating a ton of traffic to their raspberry ketones website.

On the surface, its easy to understand why someone wanting to shed unwanted pounds may look at this site and be convinced that this product is the real deal. But it takes some geeks to look beyond the presentation.

First, the company has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. That’s not good.

Second, let’s examine their product label.

Be Careful Who You Buy Raspberry Ketones From - RagTagResearchGeeks.comAs you can see, this is one of those brands marketing themselves as some sort of premium fat-burning antioxidant blend. There is also some manipulation with the serving size. Most people see 600mg of raspberry ketones. Most companies offer 500mg of ketones per CAPSULE. The human equivalent of what mice were given in the research studies that confirmed raspberry ketones ability to burn fat even with a high-fat diet. But, if you notice, that serving size is two capsules. So that’s only 300mg of raspberry ketones per capsule. And its doubtful these are pure 100% natural raspberry ketones that work!

As for the other stuff… they can pretty much market the same product as african mango, acai berry, or a green tea supplement. Of course, it would be as ineffective as their raspberry ketones product, even with those other labels.

But What About The Testimonials – Real People Are Using This And Dropping Weight!

Endrew - A Real Custom Health Labs Raspberry Ketones Supplement UserEndrew, from London who doesn’t usually submit testimonials – until he dropped weight with their raspberry ketones brand.

But as you can see to your left, Endrew has been appearing on weight loss sites for years under different names. How can he deceive Custom Health Labs like that?

Suzzy - A Real (?) Custom Health Labs Raspberry Ketones Supplement User

Click to enlarge to see how many weight loss sites Suzzy – a real Custom Health Labs Raspberry Ketones supplement customer – has been pictured on.

There is also Suzzy, who lost 93 pounds during the period of 103 days on Custom Health Labs raspberry ketones supplement.

But as you can see to your left, Suzzy has been appearing on weight loss sites going all the way back to 2009. How can she deceive Custom Health Labs like that?

Hopefully Custom Health Labs (and “CertifiedRaspberryKetones” won’t deceive YOU now!

Looking for a Raspberry Ketone product you can trust? aPP-aPProved.com offers SimplyRaspberryKetones™ – nothing but 500MG per capsule of pure, natural raspberry ketones. And if they don’t work for you, aPP-aPProved will refund your purchase for up to one full year. NONE of these scammy fly-by-night sites will probably even be around that long!

New Science Identifies Link Between Too Much Salt And Calcium Deficiency

Too Much Salt Linked To Calcium Deficiency at aProvenYou.com

High blood pressure and chronic kidney disease are the two conditions most often associated with high sodium diets. But did you know that conditions like thinning bones and osteoporosis can also be linked to a diet high in sodium? Medical and science communities have speculated for years that excess sodium in the body interferes with our calcium absorption, leading to bone issues and conditions like osteoporosis. There just hasn’t been any proven science to support this generalization. Until now… Read more

Sprouts: Grow Your Own

alfalfa_sprouted

By: Tamara Jacobi

You might want to consider adding sprouts to your list of “superfoods”.

In the life of a plant, sprouting is moment of great vitality and energy. The seed, after having remained quiet for a long period of time, becomes more and more active and begins its journey up through the topsoil into the open air. When it sprouts, a healthy seed activates many different systems in your body.

Sprouts are high in:

  •  Life Force (vitality & energy)
  •  Vitamins & Minerals
  •  Easily digestible protein
  •  Antioxidants
  •  Enzymes
  •  Vitamin C

What kind of sprouts, you might be thinking? As the spring progresses you’re probably seeing all kinds of different sprouts springing up out of the ground.

Though I love sprouts, I don’t recommend that you go scavenging for sprouts in your neighbor’s garden. A better option is to look for sprouts at your local health food stores and farmer’s markets. Of course, you can also grow your own!  Growing your own sprouts is simple and fun, and a great project for spring.

Click here for simple steps on growing your own sprouts

So, what kinds of sprouts are good to eat? Generally the following are used for sprouting:

Beans & Legumes: lentils, garbanzo, mung, adzuki

Seeds : Alfalfa seeds, radish seeds, carrot seeds, coriander seeds, pumpkin seeds, alfalfa

Grains : buckwheat, amaranth, kamut, quinoa

Now you’re probably wondering how to incorporate sprouts into your diet. It’s easy to add sprouts to:

  •  Salads
  •  Sandwiches
  •  Stirfrys
  •  Wraps

Enjoy!

The Secrets of Seeds

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

By Tamara Jacobi

Spring is a time of year when you may be eyeing those seed packets at the grocery store, wondering what you might plant in your garden this year. I might also suggest that while seeds are on your mind, why not consider the role that they play in your diet?

Many seeds are so tiny that they’re often over looked. It’s easy distracted by the appeal of nuts. But in this case, bigger isn’t necessarily better!  Seeds are full of mysterious secrets. In fact, a seed is the essence of a new life. Wouldn’t it make sense that this is a powerful source of nutrition?

The list of reasons to get seeds into your diet is long, but here are some of my favorite reasons:

– powerful natural energy boosters
– high in vitamins and minerals, particularly zinc
– good source of healthy fats and protein (makes these a great snack for after a workout)

Not sure where to start with seeds? Some of my personal favorites are sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and chia seeds. Now what to do with them? If possible, it’s best to eat seeds raw and ideally go organic.  Seeds can be heavy in pesticides and roasting seeds at high temperatures will change the structure of their delicate oils.

Here are some ideas for simple ways to get raw seeds into your diet:

– eat a handful for a snack
– add to salads
– mix with sauteed or steamed veggies
– add to granola
– make some homemade crackers
– add to homemade bread

To get you started with seeds, here is a quick and simple recipe for a chia seed energy drink. http://junglegirlhealth.com/blog/2012/04/chia-seed-energy-drink

Embrace The Nourishment of “Greenness”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

By Tamara Jacobi, Holistic Nutrition Coach

In the spirit of Earth Day, green is definitely the color of the moment.  Let us celebrate green!

Green is the color of life.

Green is a way of life.

Green is a fuel for life.

Clearly, Earth Day is devoted to caring for our beautiful planet and embracing the environmental aspects of green living.  Why not take this one step further and celebrate the value of green nourishment as well.

Green is a fuel for life. From kale to seaweed, greens are truly one of Mother Nature’s gifts for us to enjoy.  Greens spring out of the ground and reach up to the sky, offering a contagious and uplifting, energy. Put these on your plate and this energy will be easily assimilated into your body.   The nutritional benefits of greens are endless and the saying “if you’re green inside you’re clean inside” is one of my personal mantras.   Greens are beyond doubt one of the cornerstones of good health.

The green that surrounds us nourishes us as well.  Nourishment from the natural world is invaluable; this is the essence of holistic nutrition.  At my home in the jungle, I revel in the sway of the green palm trees of the jungle. I run along green jungle ridges on my morning trail run.  I do yoga beneath a canopy of green. I stand up paddle board alongside a glowing green coastline!  I am always eager to see the green that awaits me around the next bend in the road of life.

Green is also a friend. Green life surrounds me in a comforting embrace, a reassurance that I am never alone; there is life all around me.   I am empowered by green, reminded of the magic and potential of life. Yet, at the same time I find calm and tranquility, reminded of the need to be present and get slow.

So let’s celebrate green! Green inside, outside, upside down. I am known as the “jungle girl” and I love green.

Are you ready to begin a new healthy relationship with your body? Adding some green to your life is a great way to get started and I’m ready to support you!  My holistic health coaching program focuses on sustainable weight loss, increasing energy, listening to your unique body and taking care of yourself.

“Not As Hungry”

Hi!
I started taking the Life Oil(Buckthorn) last week, after about 2 to 3 days I began to not feel as hungry. I take one on an empty stomach when I wake up and another later during the day.  I must admit that I desire more salads and vegetables. Less hunger is this part of the effects of this product.  What else can I expect?

“My Hair Is Growing & My Nails Are Almost Beautiful”

goldstar

Message: Hi, I started taking your Life Oil about 2+ months ago.  I think it works great.  I had problems w/hair loss and horrible nails.  My hair is growing in and my nails are almost beautiful.  I want to recommend this to my sister who is having skin problems…eczema.  Since I don’t have that problem, I was wondering if I am correct in recommending it.  Please advise.

“None can Compare”

goldstar

Things are going great. I must admit that at first I wasn’t sure about what to expect, but now I am truly sold on Encompass Probiotic. I am sleeping much better and I feel better when I wake up in the morning. My stomach has gotten a lot flatter not bloated at all. I am very satisfied with this product I have tried others but none can compare. Thank You, for something that really works. I should also mention that I appreciate the emails checking up on me. Other companies don’t do that. It makes me feel like you really care if the product is working for me, not just about the money. Thanks again for everything.
