How to Choose a Green Bean Coffee Supplement

Like most supplements on the market, the available range of Green bean coffee supplements may look similar and make the same claims, but not all supplements are made equal. Buying the right green coffee bean supplement makes the difference between getting the results that you are after and wasting your hard-earned cash.

When buying your supplements, one of the first things that you should do is check the level of chlorogenic acid in each dose of the supplement, as this is the active ingredient that boosts metabolism and will make you lose weight.  To get noticeable results, like in the clinical trials, you need to take a supplement that is 400-500mg of 100% pure green bean coffee containing 45%-50% chlorogenic acid (choose-green-coffee-bean-extract). It should be taken 3 times a day to maintain the levels of the compound in your system as it is finally metabolized by the small intestine. This means that it would be no good to buy a really large supplement, say 2000mg, which you only took once a day. As chlorogenic acid is an antioxidant, any amount will improve your health. However, a lower dosage will not give you noticeable weight loss, so will be a waste of your money.

Chlorogenic acid is a naturally formed compound of caffeic acid and L-quinic found in small amounts in some foods such as potatoes, tomatoes, apples and pears, but the highest amounts are found in green coffee bean. This shows that a high dose of chlorogenic acid is required for weight loss results; otherwise you could get away with eating a load of potatoes and still lose weight!

Unlike a lot of weight loss supplements on the market, green coffee bean extract does not rely heavily on caffeine to promote weight loss, so your supplement should not contain any additional caffeine. Although caffeine helps the body to release stored fat, there is typically only 20mg of caffeine per serving of the supplement. This is about the same amount as one ounce of dark chocolate, as opposed to your normal cup of coffee, which contains 500mg. As this is quite a low amount of caffeine, even the most caffeine-sensitive of people can take the supplement without worrying about jitters or sleep disturbance.

The supplement should be 100% pure and natural green coffee bean. Celebrity doctor, Dr Oz, recommends that people use a pure green coffee supplement without any fillers (dr-oz-discusses-most-effective-and-safe-fat-burning-weight-loss-pill). Fillers, such as talc, serve no nutritional or pharmaceutical purpose and take up space in a supplement that could be used for the active ingredient instead. Some ingredients often used in supplements can even be dangerous. For example, magnesium stearate is commonly used to stop supplements from sticking to each other, but can suppress the immune system and cause a biofilm inside the digestive system, which stops the body from absorbing the nutrients in the supplement (4-dangerous-and-common-vitamin-fillers-you-must-avoid). There isn’t much point in taking a supplement if you can’t get the benefits from it!

Dr Oz also advised not to buy a supplement that doesn’t state the ingredients. You would have thought that would be common sense, but obviously not! Even though you may think you know what you are taking by the description on the front of the label, you really need to thoroughly go through the contents of your supplement.

Finally, you should make sure that your supplement is from a reputable source. Take a bit of time to research into independent reviews and try to avoid any over-zealous Internet pages promising free trials. These are often scams and will send you sub-standard products. If a website offers wild claims about its product, like losing a stone in 2 weeks or uses obviously photo-shopped pictures, it is more than likely a scam. Green coffee bean extract is effective, but most users lose around 1-2 lbs a week, so don’t believe any crazy promises.
