When we posted the study a few days ago about how eating protein is necessary for weight loss (or even maintaining muscle mass if you’re not dieting) the question came up – does it matter where the protein comes from?

Well turns out it does. Read more

The objective in our war is to make this a meaningful, memorable time for all the right reasons. Come january we want memories, not extra pounds. We want smiles, not stress.

So here are some strategies for the first major attack: Thanksgiving Day. Read more

WHAT?? Is there really such a thing?

Believe it or not there are some Holiday staples that actually have some health benefits. With Thanksgiving being only a week away, we thought now was a good time to explore them.

  • Pumpkin. Pumpkin is an excellent source of beta-carotene (269 percent RDA per half-cup serving), which is converted to resistance-building vitamin A. Pumpkin is also a wonderful source of iron (17 percent RDA per half-cup serving), a mineral essential for transporting oxygen to our working cells. And surprisingly, canned pumpkin contains 15 times more beta-carotene than fresh pumpkin. Read more

3 Things I Learned While My Plane Crashed

RicElias

Ric Elias had a front-row seat on Flight 1549, the plane that crash-landed in the Hudson River in New York in January 2009. What went through his mind as the doomed plane went down?

He tells us in the riveting video below:

Ric Elias said it perfectly: It can all change in an instant. Lets all agree to do everything we can to focus on what matters: on the relationships we have with those we love, and on keeping ourselves in shape to be there for them for the longest time possible.

X-Factor’s Leroy Bell Shares Youth Secrets

Leroy Bell

Believe it or not, Leroy Bell is 60 years old. But he doesn’t look a day over 35. How does he do it? He talks about it in this interview with Yahoo Music:

I get several great lessons from this video:

  1. Eating healthy and getting exercise matter.
  2. Doing what you love keeps you young.
  3. One day you’ll be dead. Might as well do what you like to do.
  4. It’s absolutely NEVER too late to make your dreams come true. Until, of course, you’re dead. (See #3)

If this man at 60 can put his entire life on hold and give a competition like the XFactor a shot – and it doesn’t get much BIGGER than that – what can YOU do that you’ve been putting off?

And what’s holding you back? One day you’ll be dead. What regrets do you want to take to your grave? The knowledge that you tried and failed, or the regret that you never tried at all?

I’d much rather have a ton of failures than an ounce of regret.
